Hi and welcome to this week's Eight sentences. Today I am continuing with eight from my new release, 'Fevered Kisses' an anthology of lust. This week I am continuing from last week and fifth story 'Some Time Away'.
MY EIGHT:
There were so
many cars, all eager to get home. Pressing a button on the CD player brought
the silky voice of Michael Buble echoing around her from four hidden
speakers. That was better. Melanie’s mind began to wander back to when she
thought she would finally realise her dreams. Michael was singing about having
not yet met the person he wanted to spend his life with, how ironic.
As she stared at
the back bumper of the 4 x 4 blocking her vision, Melanie remembered how she
had felt just a few months ago. What changed? And when?

Michael Buble sets such a mood. The music on the trailer is intriguing, too as are the words, is that Buble?

I could just picture this, frustration over traffic, life...not much to do in traffic but contemplate. And Buble's tones are silky : )
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, is there anybody who hasn't been in that *exact* situation? And why is it that the music on the radio *always* seems to be so...intuitive as to what is going on in life? It's not fair, I tell ya!
ReplyDeleteGreat eight. Very personal and relateable!
Very nice and self-reflective excerpt today, can totally relate!
ReplyDeleteVery relatable eight. Great post!
ReplyDeleteVery well-painted scene, Gemma. Visual, audible. :-) Good 8!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the car with her listening to Michael. Very nice snippet.
ReplyDeleteMusic and scents take you right back to the moment.
ReplyDeleteI like the comparison between going nowhere in traffic and her worries about life. Her staring blankly at an obstacle is a nice touch, too.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing snippet about an intriguing character. I love the description and want to find out more about Melanie and what happened to her. Great 8.
