Six Sentence Sunday #60

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by to read my 60th Six Sentence Post! Wow! Can't believe l've been doing this so long!
Last time we left Mandy with a myserious note, this six are much later in the book and Mandy has taken a boat trip out to a huge house on a small island with John enjoy:

It was a magnificent sight but looked very neglected. Mandy felt her heart sink as she stared at the weather worn shutters and peeling forest green paint. Nobody could possibly live here, she was sure of that now. John sat down on a crumbling brick wall to take a rest and Mandy joined him as together they watched the small group of people who had made the walk with them, head off to the equally neglected gardens.

“What a mess.” John grumbled, “All the way up here to look at that monstrosity.”
